Doug in the Playground

October 12, 2010

That title would work if there was a contributor to the new Playground Magazine called Doug, although there isn’t. You know, like ‘dog in the playground’, like when there used to occasionally be a dog in the playground, wasn’t that great? No, no it wasn’t, because it never happened (at least not in our playground, where there was only ever litter and bully boys).

Anyway, i’m not talking about the Playground Magazine about gaming from the Philippines, or the one for Floridian parents, or the loads of ones that seem to be on Google, but the one that has recently had a new issue announced on Carianne Whitworth’s blog. It is centred around the theme of Youth, and features a host of interesting contributors, and me. The list in fact looks like this:

THOMAS BLATCHFORD / EVENING TWEED’S JEZ BURROWS / ARTIST + POET MICHAEL CROWE / JIGGERY POKERY’S LAUREN DAVIES / PEEPSHOW’S MILES DONOVAN / ILLUSTRATOR CHARLIE DUCK / PETE DUFFIELD / JAKE EVANS / LANDFILL EDITIONS’ HUGH FROST / JACKSON HOLMES / LAUREN INGRAM / CURATOR CEDAR LEWISOHN / DESIGNERS JAMES LUNN / FLORA MACLEAN / DARRIN PATTANUMOTANA / OFF MODERN’S FELIX L. PETTY / DESIGNER MICHELLE PHILLIPS / DESIGNER EMMI SALONEN / MARNEY WALKER / HEATHER WEBSTER / AILSA YEXLEY

You can buy previous issues online from the ink’d gallery shop. i’m not sure where you can buy the new issue on the web but you can read my contribution here:

Speaking of youth, my favourite EP of the year is called just that: Youth by Summer Camp. It’s really rather lovely, why don’t you get a copy of that while you’re at it huh?
